Weekly games!

Got some bad luck with the tram so I may be late. It shouldn’t be too much.

Edit: what’s up with my tendency to open up new pages? Odd…

Update. And double post.
The 5 got held up for quite a time now, waiting for an ambulance. I assumed it was a malfunction at first, but that turned out to be false. Seems someone got injured.
In any case, the line is stopped now and it’ll take a while.
I’ll be there, but I can’t say how long it’ll take.

Thanks guys for a fun session!
Not much killing this time, next time might be better…

hey, we got knighted - no complaints from me!

And as for the killing… I have a feeling that may come soon enough… next up, patrolling the Saxon coast together with the two kings. No worries there’s gonna be some violence coming right up ^^

Thanks for the awesome game, everyone.
I personally didn’t mind the relative quiet of the scenario a single bit.
I was really pleasantly surprised by how much of the fun parts were lacking from the book. That’s amazing.

Well, to give you an idea.
The last bit we played from the book was the sword lake fight.
The encounter with Bernick and Brennus, the werewolf, the saxon woman and the feud with Jaradan are all things I made up…
Then, it’s back to the book with the feast with Merlin’s appearance. Although I improvised the idea about one of you being invited at the high table…

Oh, wow, that’s surprising. The books must really be meant to just breeze through the years at quite a quick pace, then…

I mean I remember you said in the beginning there was only one adventure per year - but I for one appreciate the “fuller” version you are presenting!

It also probably helps to rack up those “checks” for the skills in time for the next winter phase… I can only imagine how slow advancement would otherwise be for those characters…

(For example, I’m four sessions in, and my Traits (?)(those chivalrous/religious thingies) have not changed yet. A couple of skills saw progress, but like, a few points here and there… I’m not complaining (we seem to be doing fine in general), just wondering… the system really is meant to show your progress over a lifetime, yes?)

Well, i think that GM are expected to make up a lot of stuff. After all a lot of the fun cimes from the player knight personal history.
Also, I extended last year a fair bit and it took us 4 sessions to run it rather the one Mr. Standford expected. But many years are just a description of the two royal courts, with the various rumors and intrigue there and a paragraph or two describing what battle the players can be involved in. A lot of the book is setting, really, explaining the various cities and counties… There are also a few scenariod for each periods, and a couple extra rules. It is useful, especially to set up the big picture of what goes on at the kingdom level, but it is not ready to play like the Pathfinder advenutre paths are.

Any plans yet for this week?

Some mentioned continuing with Pendragon, but I don’t think that anyhing definitive got decided…

Thursday again? After the last two weeks, this one should work again

It should be Thursday, but the location might not he Slielbar… We’ll have to wait and see…

Did you find a new location?

yeah, we thought about Damage Unlimited Games Center’s “Gamezone”. We’d have to bring our own drinks and food, but it’s nice and quiet on weekdays. I contacted them and they said we could have it pretty much whenever during the week, free of charge. (Weekends are mostly busy with wargamers and trading card people)

It’s in Theobaldgasse, off Mariahilferstraße. You know that Starbucks between Neubaugasse and Museumsquartier? Turn that corner into the side alley and you’re there.

We could give it a shot sometime. I’m considering using it for the AW game, if it works for us.
During the winter months, maybe we should bring a heater/radiator though - not sure they have central heating (or if they have it, that they leave it on during the evening)… I’ve got a portable one I could bring, just in case

All that said, I’m not sure I’m gonna make it this week. Confirmation will be posted as soon as some solidity enters my near future plans (i.e. probably tomorrow)

Thursday is Thanksgiving; that means turkey and pumpkin pie rather than d6s and xps. See all of you some other time…

Any particular reason for a change? I have to admit gamezone doesn’t strike me as particularly appealing.

It would be quieter, from what I understand…

that’s the main reason, yeah. I haven’t been there in a while, but from what I remember from my warhammer days… it’s maybe not the most charming location, stylistically, but pragmatically functional for sitting around a table telling stories to each other

I guess - or is there anything I’m not aware of that makes it unlikable?

Well, there’s quite a bit to be said for charm, isn’t there?

Well, I’d prefer talking louder over bringing drinks, food, radiators and stuff on our own. There’s also the question of availability (opening hours, what if they’re having a tournament etc.), do they close at 6 p.m.?
I mean we could try it, but when it comes to weekly games (some of us are coming directly from work) I’m voting for a bar/pub/similar location where we can show up, eat, drink, play and leave again.
