Hey all, I was wondering which of the dnd beyond books would be best to get for a new player. I already ofc downloaded the free ones, and I figured the 2024 player’s handbook would probably be good, but I don’t know about any others
If you’re new to the game, I’d recommend stopping at the PHB! All the options from the other books can become a bit overwhelming. I wouldn’t buy the others unless you were in a game that needed them. But that’s just my opinion!
The correct answer is probably which ever sourcebooks excite you the most.
I agree, the PHB should be enough for now.
Another thing, you can look for D&D Beyond content sharing groups if you want to explore all the options without having to buy the books yourself.
Just be aware that, for now, we are still using the 2014 rules in our VALUE games; but you can always choose “Legacy” content on D&D Beyond when creating a character for VALUE to access the 2014 character options.
Alright, thanks for the infos! I did notice those legacy tags while peeking at the spell lists but that’s definitely good to know that the current standard is still 2014
We do also have a content sharing campaign on here, so if you wanna “try before you buy” you absolutely can. Especially for stuff you’re not gonna use a lot, that’s probably the way I would go, since they are quite expensive to get something you’re gonna use once a year.
Oh, that’s neat!
We do? Where might I gain access to that?
