Weekly games!

two tables are reserved (for ~6 and ~4 people), cu 19.30!

nice : )

Just to plan ahead for a change …

Next week: New Fire + Dungeon World?

Two weeks from now: Cops pt. 2 + X?

(I’d be able to run something for ā€˜X’ if nobody else has any plans yet. And I’m still hoping to play Cops at some point.)

Looks like a fun slate!

I’ll be happy to try DW next week, if it is possible (free seat).

I must admit, I’m starting to really like the mini-group format. It’s always interesting to run the same game with 2 groups and observing how different they turn out or fixing one’s own mistakes and avoiding some pitfalls the second time around.

And it’s honestly easier to lead and organize a game with 4-5 players per group. That’s pretty awesome.

I do plan on running The Mountain Witch as soon as I get the chance, and this’d be a good solution for that as well. We’ll see…

sound nice : )

I thinbk that was the plan yesterday.

So… I should plan for a third round of Cops then? Ok people, keep the spoilers hidden a little bit longer then…

I have to concur with Gjsoft, smaller groups are easier to handle. Probably more fun for the players too…

But I don’t know how practical it would always be…

Anyway, thanks for yet another fun evening everybody!

Just for info, I contacted Harry and told him about the weekly Spielbar session and he said he would mention it in a future newsletter!

Yikes. At this rate, we’ll wind up outgrowing Spielbar …

Well, we’re at the point where we’re taking up the entire back room already :'D
So why not take a step further?

Oh yes, before I forget, thanks again to everyone collecting those supermarket cards and stickers for me. You guys are awesome!

And hope everybody enjoys the books, too!

Ah crap, I had them, but forgot to give them to you! Tons of them.
I’ll have to remember till next time!

If that ever happens, we can always branch out. For example to Brot & Spiele, which is pretty much right around the corner from Spielbar

It seems to be (even) less spacious than our current venue, but I’ve been keeping it in mind anyways - just in case the table reservations may not work out with Spielbar one day…

Cause we’d need a new location - which in the past didn’t turn out to be that easy to find.
In addition - I think there is a limit to the weekly games-group. At some point it’ll get hard to find enough DMs and games for the evening …

How many players & GMs come to the weekly sessions, usually ? You speak about the pleasure of playing with smaller player groups, is it because you normally play with 6+ players per group ?

Usually we have one group with 4-8 people. But 8 is the exception rather than the rule. There is no real pattern of player numbers. It varies from week to week.
Last thursday though we did have to actually split up the group for the first time and since the ā€˜player-pool’ keeps growing that probably wasn’t the last time.

I need to start using sarcasm tag apparantly. Happens all the time. The internet is truly a scary place.

Anyway, I’ve also been considering the possibility of a GM dropping out last minute which could leave half the table without a game. And nobody wants that.
I’ve prepared a few mini set-up one-shots if it’s needed, but other than just someone taking up the job, it’ll be difficult.

But aside from some special event evenings, we don’t have to fear for space - it usually gets filled up later.

But we should have a GM-less game or teo prepared for occasions where we’re lacking one. Or one where GM duties get cycled around.

In any case, precautions should be in place and that’s not too difficult to do.

I’m also planning on running a one shot in the not too distant future. Probably Trail of Cthulhu, Call of Cthulhu 7E (recently purchased the first official 7e scenario) or something FATE related. That’ll take care of at least 3 or 4 of us.

I wouldn’t worry about it too much, though. This is the group with the single highest DM:players ratio I have ever seen, after all. In fact, I am hard pressed to name more than two or three people in the group that haven’t already GMed, or are planning to.

I’ve been thinking along the same lines - namely, ā€œmaybe I should prepare something simple, quick to set up, easy to run, and always bring it to the sessions… just in caseā€¦ā€

I think the more of us do something like that, the better our redundancy will obviously become. -H- for example, has been a life-saver (or evening-saver anyways) in the past, when he volunteered to completely improvise games because no one else was prepared to run anything. But we can perhaps not always rely on this, and so I think that having something, anything, prepared can do no harm, and may come in very handy one day…

…that’s the spirit!

Well, you know already that I’m game when it comes to FATE! (And obviously everything else as well) But especially FATE.
