The VALUE Vote 2025: Results (Part 1)

The Results of the VALUE Poll for the new season  (Part 1)

So, the results are out from the VALUE poll (part 1) for the new season.

Who could vote?

DMs who dmed at least 3 times.

Why couldn’t I vote as a player?

Because it would be either too much work to find every player or not safe. We have lists of over 100 players that played over the years, and many only came once. Also it is the DMs who have to run the new rules. A public vote would not be possible due safety concerns.

When will these changes go into effect?

After the finale on the 21.3.2025. There will be a second vote with the follow up questions of how we will do things exactly, which will be larger.

Will there be a character reset? (All characters are reset to their starting tier levels or deleted if wished so and all magic items are lost except those that can be taken by level up)

  • Yes every season we had a character reset so far. The problem is that at some point DMs have the most powerful or potentially powerful characters, which can lead to an imbalance in gameplay. If you wish to recreate your character you are free to do so with the new rules, except he has no magic items gained from adventuring.
  • Additionally all DM rewards of the old season are deleted for the new season. The reason is that some DMs have over 25+ DM rewards, which can entail levels and magic items. This is also a reason for the item reset as otherwise the DM Rewards reset can be dodged by giving magic items to various characters.

Alas the people have spoken. There will be the talk about question (not vote about rules on Sunday) so the next vote will be there Mon-Wed and last 7+1 days again.

If you have any more questions that you wish to have discussed in the follow up vote. Please write them @Darthbinks

Will there be a limit on how many downtime days can be used at a time between sessions? In theory you could bank them and then jump from level 5 to 20 or so if there’s no limit.

Currently there is none. But if you wish, we can ask the question

I’m not sure it would be necessary but I think it would be sensible. Limit it to 20 downtime days per week per character or so to prevent excessive bulk spending. In that same vein this should also apply to downtime activities for games in some way. I’m just spitballing ideas and numbers here though. Use my feedback at your own discretion

I just made a public poll to see what ruleset, 2014 or 2024, our community prefers: Poll: Which D&D rules should be used in the future of VALUE?

please keep in mind that this poll is just Arthila’s private poll

I’m sure it’s on the list already, but just to be sure - we should also add items and item limits and rarity of items and so on to the follow-up poll for T0
