We’ve also been asked that people limit gathering right outside the door as much as possible. Short smoke breaks aren’t a problem, we just don’t want to disturb the neighbors.
Post below if you are coming - all tables are open. Players of any level of experience are welcome.
KULT is a fantastic roleplaying game with many supernatural elements and it’s about personal horror and often about facing your (or someone else’s) demons. And it’s dark af, and we are so glad that it is. No class features exist, the “power of your character” exclusively comes from your roleplay - as it should be. KULT goes hard, and you will have a lot to do and decide, heck - even take over how the story goes while you’re at it. It is a game that is afraid of exactly noone. And with good reason.
KULT doesn’t need a content warning - you all know what it is that you’re getting yourself into. Expect the game to be 1) unannounced 2) immediate and 3) intrusive.
Context for the scenario: [you will be creating your own characters, I can aid with that]
2005, USA, Washington, District of Columbia. Your president is George W. Bush. 9/11 is in recent memory and the subsequent operations Desert Shield & Desert Storm are currently ongoing. Turmoil and anti-American sentiments are plentiful. So, we all need some mental refreshment - what better way to do this than to look at art in an artsy place?
THE ATROCITY EXHIBITION announced itself via invitation to your home a couple of weeks ago. You each had reason or someone involved with it to go and pay it a visit. The original artist, Guy Vauquelin, lived through the 60s - 90s and then, after making sure his works would never see the light of day, committed suicide via paintbrush through the eyesocket to the frontal cortex. Twice.
Now, of course, we want to look at his art and so we procured all the pieces and display them all in the same place to take our addled minds off of things! The carpets are rolled out, the champagne is ready to be served and on the opening night you are expected to participate in the proceedings. It will be a night to remember. Come, come all! Let’s enjoy our time while we’re alive
after some refactoring and tinkering, I’m thrilled to DM my “Assassination in the Flooded District” adventure in the Dishonored universe again. this one shot is going to be outside VALUE rules as I haven’t had the time to adapt it further for 2024, so characters here unfortunately cannot be used in other tables.
synopsis [SPOILER ALERT FOR A ~12 YEAR OLD GAME]: after freeing Dunwall from the clutches of the Royal Spymaster, Corvo Attano is reinstated as Royal Protector with youmg Emily Kaldwin as Empress. you are summoned to Dunwall Tower for a mission: Corvo has received an anonymous letter containing the following: “Flooded District. Whaler captain gone rogue. Neutralize.”
some info about the setting: Dishonored is set in a steampunk/Victorian England-esque setting, with a healthy mix of otherworldly eldritch magic. there are only humans as a species, so ideally that’s what all players would have as far as immersion goes, but flavor is free if you would like to have any other species.
game info: like mentioned, this is going to be outside VALUE rules and I’m going to use old 2014, so bring your favorite level 7 character and if you want, send their character sheet to me beforehand so that I can tie you into the world better (unless you already know the setting :D). player maximum is 4.
difficulty and feel: this adventure is straight forward, but the enemies you’re going to face are relatively deadly (or at least that’s how they’re gonna feel like). fortunately, you have the opportunity to power up in certain ways to even the odds. this session is set in a decrepit (I’ve used this word so much XD), plague-ridden district of Dunwall, filled with infected zombie-like specimens called weepers, huge mutated armored clams called river krusts, and deadly assassins.
I will be DMing a Cy_Borg adventure. So, I invite you to try this really cool, fast, gritty cyberpunk system. We will explain rules and make a character on the fly, as it is super simple.
A few days after your return, a messenger catches up with you and hands over a letter bearing the seal of House Kendrick. It contains a personal message from High Queen Cefrey:
Brave hero,
You carried my words safely through lands darkened by our enemies, rescued one of my blood from peril, and thwarted a vile attempt upon Princess Tarilyn’s life. Through your courage, the Slain’s deception was exposed and the fragile alliance between House Kendrick and the leShay endures.
You have earned not only my gratitude, but the gratitude of all who still stand against the shadows. The Moonshae Isles shall remember what you accomplished this day.
