The V.A.L.U.E. of Central Heating

I just take a newborn lvl1 character, Calvin!

“What if Elsa would be a boy?”

I think both would be fine ^^

I will say that i ended up feeling very uninspired to play my monk-druid honestly, so i will probably switch to another level 3 character… I thought of trying twilight/night domain cleric for the first time, but i wouldn’t want to end up "meta playing"against the information I was given, so i might as well just go for a tanky frontliner to help my begginer-friends (thinking the armorer artificer or the ancestral barbarian). As the dm, would any be preferable? (If i make an artificer, i reflavor it to be super medival-oriented. I don’t want to impose technology on anyone’s material)

Silly question I know, but it would help direct me ^^"…

Alright, I can help you with that. Thank you a bunch for being so considerate!

Sleepy Hollow takes place in 1800s fantasy America, minor steampunk and other inventions were there already. Think: era of civil war and gunpowder age.

The frosted Highlands are a regular DnD session with anything permitted.

Hmm, knowing that I will deal with newcomers I am leaning towards running the Haunting of Sleepy Hollow because 1) it has worked in the past 2) it is a great learning module and 3) it is adequately ghastly to spur on new players.

If noone is opposed to that then we can lock that in as today’s adventure.

If I get it right, @teverly is the +1 @FrozenKimchi is introducing! Right? Just to get the numbers right

I do not oppose  Sleepy Hollow sounds good! So Yeah I will probably play an Armorer then. Debating between that and another t2 character which i really want to start playing (thinking of just recreating it at a lower level). I will bring both and we’ll see what fits the group better as we sit

Thank you for playing Voyage Of The Fallen Star - The Blazing Isles - Into The Volcano. I had volcanic explosions of fun and hope you did too

Those in doubt about your chances at survival will be forever silenced when they hear tales about your magma wolf riding, your defeat of the fire bats and your devious plan to escape the roper’s stalagmite little cousins. You are hoping no one finds out about the star shard you conquered in the near future, or you might be chased by some more of those Blackrifters.

You have found neither of the shrines, but with the steam elemental returning to the heart of the volcano, after one volcanic eruption, the island of Igni’ka returns to its natural balance. The compass now points to the Giant’s Spur, which lies in the territory of the red dragon Lux. As you enter her waters, you see a dragon flying in the same direction as you.

A big thanks to @empiotreus who successfully found the Matilda and helped Hal repair the ship while the party was in the volcano. Other characters who were on the island could have helped this endeavour or tried to spy on Blackrift, if they wanted to return to the adventure next time (this concerns @Vishous @dreamowl if they wanted to return, and return with the same characters).

Information gathered about Blackrift though spies and information provided by your new friends who escaped the Blackrift camp: King Wulfkirk has formed an alliance with the far elves, who gave him an astral compass. It is unknown what the Far Elves gain from this alliance. One of them, an iron chain acolyte, is on every one of their ships, with around a dozen or so other crew members. King Wulfkirk did send ships out into the Great Sea and Lux’ territory to gather information about the star.

Far Elves: A long time ago, far elves, drow and high elves were in a war. The far elves wanted to unite all the elves, but high elves and drow could not be appeased. HIgh elves were given control of the overworld, drow were given control of the underworld, and the far elves fled to a different plane. They have gray skin and star-shaped freckles.

Blackrift: Blackrift ruled all of the Greenwold (where most of the party is presumably from) until there was a revolution. Blackrift strives to retake control of the western part of the world.

What Hal and Captain catapult can tell you about Giant’s Spur: It’s known as a place of pilgrimage and trade just across the border of Lux’ territory.

Loot & Rewards

  • 1 level up (if you want). Note that the next 2 adventures will still be T1
  • 10 downtime days (using the “catching up” option in the downtime rules, you can advance an extra level if you want)
  • 7 more heatstones bringing the total to 12 (home brew) → 1 stone has 4 charges that last 1 hour. every sunset, the stones regain 1d4 charges. To use a stone, apply to your skin for 10 minutes. Then roll a Medicine check at DC 10. On a success, you are resistant to fire damage. On a fail, you have lost a charge. On a 19 or 20, you gain immunity to fire damage for one hour.
  • The Drow weapon that Kron investigated disintegrates. You stilll have some weapons unexposed to sunlight: 2 daggers and 1 short sword, all +1. Marik is carrying them in the monkey space.
  • The crystal with +2 to spell attacks and saves seems to be running low on magic. It has some power left but you think it will stop working relatively soon.
  • Hal managed to sneak into a Blackrift camp and found some mundane armor. - 1 studded leather, 1 half plate, and one full plate. Together you can spend the time on the Matilda to make it fit 3 of you.
  • Captain Catapult didn’t return the second earpiece to Vahlisto, so you now have 2.

  • Infernus Sea Urchin Tank: Currently holds one pink sea urchin. Duplicates itself every 24 hours until 8 urchins occupy the tank. Then they stop replicating until one is removed. One urchin can cure a PC from poison or, if there is no poison present, heal them for 1d3 HP.
  • Star Shard Magic: Fragment of Natural Harmony - cast detect poison & disease / locate animal & plants

The next session will be on Friday Jan 10 (and every other week after that, so 24.1.- 7.2. - and so on) Hope to see you then! Looking forward to it.

Thank you for being part of this great session of D&D: @Atanen @jboimler @FrozenKimchi @MrScarlet @Shocker and @teverly (I hope that these are all the correct forum names)

I had a huge amount of fun being your DM and running the game. You all made yourselves proud tonight and you caused your characters to become heroic over the course of the game, which is exactly what you ought to do, but it came naturally which is all the better!

I may reward your characters now.

EACH OF YOUR CHARACTERS GAINS THE FOLLOWING:

160 gold pieces, 10 downtime days (to spend whenever you want within the system of AL), 1 level-up aaaaaaaand… you may each take a single “riding horse” for yourself, if you want it. Unusual reward, but a fitting one. Each horse is either named “Gunpowder” or “Daredevil”. Take your pick  (Riding Horse - DnD content)

Additionally, one (that’s 1) of the following magic items is yours to keep:

  • Wraps Of Unarmed Prowess - DND 5th Edition made from the cover of the Wendigo Church’s holy scripture. Just…wrapped around your striking limbs. Only the +1 version is allowed.
  • Weapon of Warning - DND 5th Edition because you heeded the warning of the Ex-Mayor Peter Van Garrett and received city-wide access to put your curiosity to use.
  • Amulet of the Drunkard - DND 5th Edition because you may have indulged in the city’s revelry with an amount of professionalism. Also, why does every holy man always have a weakness to alcohol?
  • Cloak of the Manta Ray - DND 5th Edition because you can’t really be delving into underwater lairs without proper attire, am I right? That wouldn’t be seemly. And also the Dullahan gifted you this to make you search out the truth. It is a parental gift to one of you (with a hereditary stitching on the seam).

If I missed anything, please let me know. And if you have feedback or comments - those are also always welcome.

Awesome session! I’d like to call dibs on the short sword whenever we can use it, unless of course Kron finds a rapier next session. Got a longsword instead of a rapier when I first created Kron and it’s not finesse so I can’t use it properly
