I don’t think, however, that level 10 will work in this setting. You could use a higher-leveled Tier 1, if you have one, create one at level 5, or take one of the pregens I have at Requisite…
My goblin ranger/fighter is level 8 atm.
But i was already debating whether to make a new character. So either works for me
(can make a new level 5 or play the goblin)
I have a higher T1 character I could level up. He is a twilight cleric though, so a major aspect of the class (healing) is nerfed harshly in this setting and his 6th level subclass feature - flight - won’t work at all (and wouldn’t he be in his god’s divine realm or something once he passes away?).
I guess he could still be useful to the party if temporary HP aren’t halved.
Otherwise I’d probably have to level down my fighter from 10 to 8…
I did send you a message on discord about the Level 9 potentially working.
I do not approve of downleveling.
However, since I have also allowed someone else to bring a PHB 2024 character, and this is a death scenario, it kind of also makes sense that your character, upon death, would have lost quite a bit of its strength. Seeing as everyone could have/would have died in a different setting, perhaps your death was much more traumatic than that of the others which resulted in this level loss. Seeing as using downtime days you could level back up to level 10 on a successful adventure, you would afterwards be the same level.
In this final and disturbing battle, however, the character would also have lost any items they received at level 9 or 10. If you succeed in the adventure, you would do a luck check using a d4. On a 4, you appear back to where the final battle was and can retrieve the items.
