Numenera - does it worth it?

HumbleBundle is currently offering Monte Cooks’ Numenera rpg books and materials on a pay-what-you-want basis:

As far as I know, it is loosely based on the Planescape - setting and the creator (Monte Cook) is well known as the creator/participant in the creation of DnD 3x/Pathfinder 1, so it sounds good on paper. Is anybody here familiar with it? Has anyone tried it?

Well, Numenara is kind of Cook saying, “You know those design principles I had in 3rd edition? Well, I was wrong,” so if you’re a fan of 3rd, you might be disappointed by Numenara.

OK, that might be a bit of an oversimplification.

Numenara is interesting. There’s some traditional design, some indie stuff. Some 70s science fantasy, some more standard fare. Does that make for a cohesive whole? I probably haven’t spent enought time with the game to be able to give you a good answer.
