Hi, I’m Aurora (not my real name ),
I’m relatively new to DnD, I’m one of the people who played BG3 and jumped on the bandwagon. I’d like to join a campaign sometime soon. I created my character on dnd beyond, added some homebrew content, nothing OP, just for flavour (which I’ve since learned is frowned upon here) and I can’t wait to finally try out playing. I’m originally from Austria but “studied” dnd in English so I’d prefer to play it in English as well.
Also, I wanted to ask if it’s possible to take my dog along to the venues since he’s a stage 5 clinger with abandonment anxiety.
Homebrew isn’t frowned upon, just too difficult to keep track off when your character is playing in a different group of adventureres with a different Dm most weeks you can always ask a DM beforehand if they allow something or not. For me personally, I struggle to remember all the “rules” stuff, so I tend to not allow homebrew because having new stuff every week is overwhelming enough. Anything that doesn’t actually impact mechanics or abilities should be fine, though - like, say you look like a Banana with hands and legs but are mechanically human - that shouldn’t be a problem.
I believe we don’t technically have rules regarding dogs, but a few months ago there was a question in the discord about someone asking to bring a dog and from what I remember it wasn’t a “no, we definitely don’t want that”, but in that case several people spoke out about not being comfortable around dogs, and it ended there. Seeing as we are guests of the locations that we play at, in addition to asking the people from our group, I would hesitate to bring dogs there without having confirmation that it’s okay.
