How many/which die?

I hope I’m posting this in the right category.

Since I’m new to DnD, I wanted to ask which die would be good to get? I know ofc the d20s and d6s, but which other kinds of die are most common? And how many should I have of each?

You can find a set of dice with 6/7 in most places. It’s a good idea to have a full set (the d100 is optional imo). ** though at Value generally you can borrow, someone always has extra ** . A full set consists of d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, d20 (d100)

You’re fine with one set but if you intend on playing more often getting a second set (at least a second d20) is a good idea so you don’t have to roll advantage and disadvantage separately.

The D20 is your die for pretty much anything other than damage. If you are going to be using an attack all the time that takes 4d6 then maybe it would be helpful to have them. So it kind of depends on your character and level.

Alright, thanks!

You can never have enough dice. It’s that simple.

Two d20 are always good to have for rolling advantage or disadvantage. If you play a rogue or wizard, you’d need a handful d6s, if you play a paladin you need those d8s for smites, and so forth.

While you could use just one single d6 or d8 and roll it over and over again, rolling a fistful of dice is so satisfying…

Gotcha! I do already quite like dice, so I have a couple d20s and so many d6s, but I also found a set of six of every dice (d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, d20 and d100) for pretty cheap, sooooooo…
