Greetings from a greenhorn

Hello,

I am completely new to D&D, I have dreamt to play since I was a kid, but growing up in the countryside, I never got the opportunity to.

I know the basics of the game based on talking to players and watching a few (many?!) games both in person and on YouTube.

I currently do not have any of the books or accessories. For my first game (most likely a Friday V.A.L.U.E event), what am I expected to acquire/bring?

Thanks & I look forward to go adventuring with some of you.

Welcome adventurer!

Ideally, read through house rules (link is in the forum for any VALUE event) and try to create a character. If you can’t, make sure to be there early and people will usually be around to help. Or you take a pregenerated character if you really just want to try playing. Basic rules are available for free. Ask questions when you have them. I think that’s it. Oh, and I almost forgot - have fun!

If youre as of yet unfamiliar with character creation, you can begin with drafting a character concept that youre interested in and coming early to one of our VALUE games on friday. There a DM or experienced player, if available, will help you flesh out that character and translate it onto the character sheet.

Its good that youre already somewhat familiar with the rules, but even if you were completely new, that would be a-ok. We’re very welcoming to new players as a community and you will figure the game out as you play. Otherwise its always helpful to watch a youtube video on the basics as a refresher I suppose.

So welcome to the community and hope to see you around
