From Legends to Nothing: The Realm-Scattered Odyssey

🌀The Realm-Scattered Odyssey🌀

🌀Quest Types (A bit of everything)🌀

  • Murder mysteries
  • Heists
  • Investigations
  • Escort
  • Defend
  • Assassination
  • Siege

🌀Length & Level & Extra Info🌀

  • At the moment I have just planned out 12 sessions, but there could be more (I will have to take a break - I don't know when that'll be yet though)
  • Starting at level 1, and each session will be limited to one level up.
    • Session 1 (level 1) - Session 2 (level 2) etc…
  • Hop on, hop off campaign, but those who stick around longer, get to have a more complete story, and more situations involving their own backstory.

🌀Theme🌀

  • Selfishness vs Selflessness

🌀Not needed but fun stuff for RP🌀

  • Come up with a level 20 character / race / class / what they're doing now? / some accomplishments
    • They do not at all have to be the same class / race as what you will bring with to the session
    • No need to actually level and all that, just some small little things about them
    • This will be your previous life before you realm hopped
      • You essentially were a powerful level 20 character, and now you have switched realm out of nowhere, and are stuck in the body of a level 1 random (you make the level 1 character of course)
        • Could be something like, you were a level 20 barbarian, and now you're stuck in a body of a level 1 wizard and have to learn these spells and be smart etc - fun to RP and gives you more to work with)
      • If you don't have anything, no worries, you'll get to improvise during the session!!!

    🌀Optional Rules I will be using🌀

    • Cinematic Advantage
      • As part of your move or action describe things your character might do in the moment to try and gain an advantage over the enemy (Examples below)
        • Leaping of a balcony to go for a stab
        • Climbing onto the back of a larger enemy to get closer to their neck / eyes etc.
        • Swinging from a rope
      • You will then most likely be asked for a check. If succeeded, you get advantage on your next attack, if you failed, there will be some form of consequences.
    • Disarm
      • (Uses up a whole action) Attack roll vs target's Strength (Athletics) or Dexterity (Acrobatics)
      • Attacker has disadvantage if the target is holding with 2 or more hands
      • Target has advantage if it is larger than the attacking creature, or disadvantage if it is smaller
      • If successful, target drops the item (takes no damage)
    • Overrun
      • Moving through a hostile creature's space
      • As either an action or bonus action, the mover makes a Strength (Athletics) check contested by the hostile creature's Strength (Athletics) check.
      • The creature attempting the overrun has advantage if it is larger than the hostile creature, or disadvantage if it is smaller.
      • If successful, the mover moves through the creature's space this turn.
    • Tumble
      • Moving through a hostile creature's space
      • As either an action or bonus action, the tumbler makes a Dexterity (Acrobatics) check contested by the hostile creature's Dexterity (Acrobatics) check.
      • If successful, the tumbler can move through the hostile creature's space this turn

🌀Factions / Alliances / Allies🌀

  • To be revealed

🌀Selfishness vs Selflessness Tracker🌀

  • Will be added (some insight into this, if you are more selfish, you gain some advantages related to that, but also some disadvantages, same vice versa - will be entirely player character dependent, no two characters should have the same advantages and disadvantages with this, unless two people make the same exact choices and characters - would be weird.)

🌀Homebrew Story Awards for Downtime Days🌀

"I've done this before"

In your previous life, you have had a similar encounter, to what you are facing now. You draw upon your memories from that time to aid you in overcoming this obstacle.

You can spend this award at any time in this campaign to get a "20" on a d20 on an ability check you would have rolled with proficiency (half proficiency instead gets advantage on d20 roll)

You must spend this award before rolling - you cannot use it after rolling for a check

Cost: 10 Downtime days

"I've definitely never done this before, or have I?"

Recalling your previous life is difficult, you just get a few glimpses of a similar situation to whatever you are facing now. You draw upon these glimpses to help you in this situation.

You can spend this award at any time in this campaign to get a "20" on a d20 on an ability check you do not have proficiency in at all (half proficiency is allowed).

You must spend this award before rolling - you cannot use it after rolling for a check

Cost: 10 Downtime days

"I wish to be like I was before"

Thinking about your previous life in this moment draws out a familiar power. Albeit temporary and at a cost.

You can spend this award at any time in this campaign to receive a power related to your class

Cost: 10 Downtime days + damage (1d8,1d10,1d12,1d20 - Tier 1, 2, 3, 4 - taking damage when award is spent)

"Hahaha, it must've been the wind…right???"

It seems like you / others are about to be caught doing something you should not be caught doing.

You can spend this award at any time in this campaign to make the guards think they saw nothing when they would've actually seen you, or someone else.

Cost: 10 Downtime days

"Sharing is caring" (prerequisite: Have one of the four auras surrounding you)

You feel this newfound power around you. Looking at your friends / associates, you think about sharing this with them.

You can spend this award at any time in this campaign to automatically succeed the d10 roll to share the aura, a small sacrifice would be necessary though.

Cost: 10 Downtime days + damage (1d8,2d10,3d12,4d20 - Tier 1, 2, 3 , 4 - taking damage when award is spent)

"Who really needs sharing?" (prerequisite: Have one of the four auras surrounding you)

You feel this newfound power around you. Looking at your friends / associates, and then back at yourself, you think it's better on you, than them.

You can spend this award at any time in this campaign to empower the aura around yourself even more, at the cost of a bit of blood of course, less than you would've taken if you shared your power though.

Cost: 10 Downtime days + damage (1d6,2d8,3d10,4d12 - Tier 1, 2, 3 , 4 - taking damage when award is spent

"Back in my day"

Back in your day, you've encountered a similar creature in combat, you know its weaknesses and everything about it.

You can spend this award at any time in this campaign to learn its weakest save DC, and to learn one additional Save DC / Stat of this creature.

Cost: 5 Downtime days

This’ll be my first time DMing a Value game. Let me know if any of you are interested in joining this. If I see that there is some interest I’ll show up as a regular DM till I have to take a break.

it certainly sounds intriguing
sadly I can’t promise to be there

Sounds nihice

For those interested, I added a bit more to the post. I added a bit of extra information under (Length & Level & Extra Info), (Not needed but fun stuff for RP), and (Selfishness vs Selflessness Tracker) so that you can sort of get what is going on, but not entirely. This post is just to gauge interest at the moment, if I see that people are interested I will start running this.
