On 11.11 Open World turns into a home for brave adventurers. There’s no better time to start a new campaign in our cosy e-sports “tavern.” We’re inviting Vienna’s D&D community to an exciting warm-up for Comic-Con! Warm drinks, tavern-core music and delicious food!
Quick question for everyone: who’d like to play, and who’d be up for running a table? 
We’re planning short one-shots, so newcomers can jump in too. If you know any DMs, tag them! Compensation will be available for DMs if you’re interested.
And what makes a great D&D night for you? This is Open World’s first proper D&D event and we want to get it right!
My first question would be: is it a D&D night, or is it a TTRPG night? I think a lot of people hear those as synonymous but it would also be good to dispel the idea that D&D is the only game of its kind.
And would you be opening sign-ups or expect GMs to find their own players?
As for a great game night, as long as the space isn’t too noisy, there’s decent ventilation, and a table that can fit enough people without feeling cramped, things tend to go well.

This is a D&D Night specifically, but if there’s demand I’m sure there will be events dedicated to other TTRPGs.
We’ll be opening sign ups sometime this week or next, ticketing works through EventBrite and players will be able to fill up tables of 4-6 (excl. DM/GM). There are smaller tables and bigger tables available, so first come first serve.
We would be happy to compensate all GMs participating with food/drinks and payment. There will be a separate ticket option for GMs as they are not paying for entry. We’re reaching out to a few, but we’re open to any GM to sign up and run a table!
** Just wanted to add that the number of GMs needed will depend on table sign ups, which is why I wanted to gauge the demand first

The event is planned to start at 18:30 till about 22:00. Open World closes at 2am so I’m not sure how long these one-off games usually run for but you’re welcome to stay till closure. The whole evening will be dedicated to this event anyway.
The games can be in either German or English, when the Eventbrite page will be set up, guests can choose between german/english tables. I’m anticipating an English-majority though.
Well it’s good to see respawn has been revived/ rebranded! I was a little sad when the bar closed.
I could definitely imagine running some one shots but I remembered the tables being quite small for non-gaming use cases, unless the interior has changed a lot since then. ^^’
Also just as a quick feedback “start a new campaign” implies the promise of more which is the exact opposite of a oneshot.

The tables on the bottom floor are a bit tight, they can fit 4 players comfortably in their current arrangement. Depending on demand, we would be pushing them together for bigger groups, and using the upstairs area which has bigger tables.
Re: starting a new campaign, that’s a good shout-- I will update the messaging for better clarity. To be completely honest, I wasn’t entirely sure if players wanted a space to continue existing campaigns/start new ones or just have a one-off to experience Open World. From what I’ve seen so far the latter seems more comfortable!
