An in-V.A.L.U.E.able evening of TTRPGs

Sorry first time using this process. Where I usually play you sign up to a table via Warhorn. I prefer DND as I at least somewhat know what I’m doing :joy: and I’m not fussed which table. I’ve my T2 sorcerer and made a T1 bard yesterday just in case. If all else fails I’m happy to try pathfinder.

Unless the total player number exceeds the number of chairs, there shouldn’t be a problem. So far I have never seen a player walk back home without getting a seat at a table.

no worries. I’m very confused this time round, and I’ve been using the forum and playing for a while, using it for the first time must be even more confusing. and I could have asked .

It’s happened at wowkeepers, though it was more of a “chairs in existence” issue.

No problemo. I’ll just get there and can play it by ear :woman_shrugging:t2::hugs: also, probably will be my only game here prior to going back to AUS. So it’ll be another year before I get to use the forum again :joy:

Mayor Stonehammer must have some good sources to recommend such an exquisite group of adventurers, because not in his wildest dreams did he hope that you not only managed to return the Horn of Valhune and thereby save bardic inspiration to maintain the town’s status as the best bardic village on the continent AND to keep inspiring bards everywhere, but you even took on the bonus quest of taking care of the white dragon Uthur.

While the way through the ice and cold was tough, the battle was tougher and almost cost you your lives. For a second there, it seemed like some of you were about to steal the horn from the hoard and flee - which would have been acceptable and resulted in great reward. but this strong, brave, partially confident group of overachievers shot the dragon from the sky until it just… dropped and stopped moving.

As sudden and unexpected the death came, you are reminded that even creatures as strong and ferocious and feral as dragons have a beating heart that can suddenly just stop working.

You manage to grab a bunch of great stuff from the dragon’s hoard. Consumables (I realize my initial statement is actually not in VALUE rules so please use this instead)

  • 5 adamantine arrows and 1 potion of greater healing

You search the hoard for things you might like.

  • Björn uses the dragon corpse and magic items he found to craft a dragon hide belt (rare)
  • Sadie finds a ring of spell storing.
  • Butch finds a scimitar of speed.
  • Tanto finds some gaunlets of ogre power
  • Regarding Investigator Barlow, the item I was thinking about is unfortunately not available at T2, so let’s go for bracers of archery instead (unless you have some already)
  • Ivy really dives into the pile of treasure that almost cost her her life and resurfcaes with a dragonwing bow
  • if you look carefully, you will find these items can be found more than once in the hoard, so if you want someone else’s item, there’s no need to steal it from the living, steal from the dead dragon before knowledge of this treasure spreads! Just stick to 1 item max.

Mayor Stonehammer rewards you the original agreed upon price of 250 GP each for returning the horn, but upon seeing the dragon’s head, ups your reward to a maximum total of 480 GP each.

The head, while slightly damaged (it was too big to fit in the dwarven tunnels, so you had to dangle it by the broom of flying on the way back) inspires numerous songs. the cold, the mist, the fog and the blizzards all stop about a day after you killed Uthur, and life in the birthplace of bardic inspiration returns to normal.

Thanks for going on a T2 journey with me. I had a blast and hope you did too

Note: as per value rules, you may also gain a level and 10 downtime days.

They came for his hoard (full song)

the village invites its heroes to add verses - this is an account of a previous adventuring party’s attempt to steal the dragon Uthur’s hoard.

The arrows they broke
and the dragon awoke
the adventurers screamed
and the dragon’s eyes gleamed
when they came for his hoard.

The adventurers froze
so this story goes
when the dragon exhaled
and their faces paled
when they came for his hoard.

He lifted one up
to the mountain top
then he let her go
to hear the drop
when they came for his hoard.

He yawned, then smiled
swallowed one with style
beat down one more
bodies littered the floor
when they came for his hoard.

With their friends now dead
they wanted his head
but in their final hour
they were devoured
when they came for his hoard.

The witch, her hut and her oven:

@Arthilas, @Istariel, @jboimler, @Martin, @truecrawl, @turtlene, @teverly (I hope that’s you!)

Wow… that were many people for the chimney sweep job! But you did it! Old Renata is willing to take some compromise to be finally able to bake again. Things come with a price, and that’s okay for her.

You managed to go through all the oven’s heat settings and unexpectedly survived all of them! Sadly we had to fade to black in the last scene, but trust me… it would have gotten too hot for you to watch

After fairly splitting the gold in @jboimler and @Martin pockets, you all end up with 160 GP each!

The day after you receive a small bundle from Renata, delivered by owl. You all find a big slice of banana bread, a vanilla & herbs muffin and one potion with an empty label on. (You can write any name of an uncommon potion onto the label… and well… hope that that’s the way it works!)

@Istariel @truecrawl In your bundles you find an additional potion of regenerate. The best before date was yesterday… so you maybe can try to use it to regain missing ears and fingers… but definitely can’t keep it for any longer.

A few moments later you all receive a single nice box. It just appears right in front of you all. It contains a pile of maybe useful items, which everyone can take one from, before the box again disappears. Once you have chosen, you see that there is a small note dangling from the items. It’s a thank you note from Ralph accompanied by a recommendation letter of your dating service.

  • Ring of Warmth
  • Wand of Web
  • A Keg of Smokepowder
  • +1 Wraps of Unarmed Prowess
  • Circlet of Human Perfection
  • Decanter of Endless Water

(Things can be chosen multiple times - if removed, another one appears in the box.)

@truecrawl You find your still puking mule after a few days. Your bond sadly did not enhance, but at least your are back together. You also acquired a mundane 10 ft pole of asbestos.

@turtlene Your rope still seems to be fireproof even after the magic stopped working. With a closer look you see it’s now all very finely woven but light metal strands. A mundane fireproof rope.

Thank you all for playing!

Good thing paladins are immune to disease. So better keep your oath, or else… you’ll get cancer :joy:

@Vishous thanks for DMing!

“All I’ve wanted was adventuring for a good cause, for glory, for the Moonmaiden. And instead… we help a goddamn hag to fix her man-baking oven…”

It seems like the noble elf Cyron, annoyed and disappointed by the group’s antics and morale, has to find a new group of adventurers, adventurers that are…of less questionable morality and, maybe, value exquisite food and drink as much as he does. Although, at least as a player, I understand that not everyone is willing to pay their dinner in platinum pieces

Thank you for a very funny one shot

Glad to see we united two lovely souls, hope we’ll also get an invitation to their wedding soon :face_holding_back_tears:  Renata&Ralph forever

And a big thank you to Renata for remembering my lost fingers

Kairon really needs to learn that there is a lot of fun to be had in questionable morality and I’m sure Lady Selûne would agree

@Vishous thanks so much for DMing for us! I thoroughly enjoyed the adventure, the NPCs were hilarious and lot of fun to interact with.

Thanks to everyone at the table as well, you were a joy to play with!

Ralph and Renata forever! Mara is very proud of herself for contributing to setting those two up and probably considering taking up matchmaking as a side gig.
