Ill be late. I hope therees gonna be some free space still
@katnyx thanks for DMing today!
And thanks to my fellow Skyknights Sunset Knights for saving the day! This song, from one of my favourite bands, is like a perfect re-telling of our adventure.
People of this forum, people of AL, people of Dungeons and Dragons:
I don’t know how to tell you this, but…there are Goblins on the loose.
Today, 6 Goblins have rampaged through their own country, destroying, conniving, misusing and breaking all that there was and ever could be! And by doing so, the Goblins inadvertently saved the whole planet. Because Goblins.
Thank you so much for playing @Atanen @Anabel @JustJules @teverly and teverly’s friend @Myrm ! You made this adventure as fun as it ended up being and I believe you made yourself proud players. (Really exercises those mental muscles for TTRPGs, doesn’t it?)
The adventure today was fantastic and I thank my players for being a part of it. I wholeheartedly enjoyed being the DM and now I know that this format really works. And I might do a rerun of “SLICE OFF LIFE”.
Reward post will follow later, I’m going to sleep now. And I will be wary of the random Goblin in my pillow or the bazooka-wielding Goblin in the bathroom sink drain. Nowhere is safe. The entire world needs to be saved - by Fey Bullshit and Goblin task forces.
Oh yeah and the final tally comes to:
Goblins 5 - People of the realm 0
Let that be a lesson to all naysayers. Goblins can steamroll anything and anyone they want at any time. Definitely the most OP thing in D&D, by a nautic mile. It’s not even close xD
REWARD POST:
Each of your Goblins may gain 1 or 2 levels of any adventurer class you like. You all keep the Shield (+2 AC) and the big knife (Shortsword 1d6 piercing) you already had.
And, how should I say this? Goblins do not care about gold whatsoever. So you may consult the DMG shopping list to buy whatever you want with the equivalent of 125 gold pieces. (Buy a Mastiff - only 25gp - and reflavour it to be a Hyena, for example?)
Shop list for adventuring gear: Adventuring Gear - DND 5th Edition
Shop list for mounts&vehicles: Mounts and Vehicles - DND 5th Edition
You now have what you need. And you are already Goblins, which means you win at life forever anyway, no matter what you end up doing.
Be merry and go out into the AL world to wreak havoc while smiling all the way through! You’ve earned it. And now pass it forward to spread the gospel of Goblinization to anyone who is foolish enough to not know it yet^^
@katnyx thanks for DMing yesterday! Was a great tier 2 session and I was left surprised that it was your first one.
Regarding the thing with the items you mentioned yesterday, Ludwig would be very grateful if he could get a new set of tools to work with (though he is happy with anything the Sunset Knights would give him).
@katnyx Looking forward to play at your table next time
Butch would basically be happy to to indulge in -anything- that is in (swarm/bounty hunter) theme for him. If anyone could imbue his equipment with and kind of useful magic, he’d be much obliged! (i tried to skim through uncommon and common magic items to see and couldn’t find anything that felt inspiring to be honest, so unless something comes to your mind, a simple +1 to his weapon/armor would be more than appreciated. Finder’s Googles and Wand of Magic Missles were also cool, but if magical rewards were not in the knight’s reach to begin with, i trust that whatever i’m given the player and the character will both be content ^^)
Thanks again for an immersive evening 'round the table!
*Edit after glancing at the rare magical items table
If Bow of Configuration or Dragon Wing Bow are applicable to crossbows, Turning his heavy crossbow into either would be amazing
Otherwise, Ring of X-Ray Vision is awesome as well!
If none of those are within the knights reach, as established, everything would satisfy both the player as well as the character
(sorry for the scroll of text and for not linking the items. I was scolded last time I linked e5tools)
You can get items up to rare in a T2 game. So a Cloak of the Bat Swarm or a Butch-er’s Bib could be an option
Those are neat! if only there was such Bib for range/piercing X’D
But thanks for letting me know about Rare items! i’ll browse the rare-table then
@truecrawl thank you for dm-ing this great adventure! I feel like we experienced a whole goblin themed movie with us as getting to go absolutely bollox as the goblins, so many twists and turns, chaos, general mayhem and destruction and it was really fun!
@blueblaze @FrozenKimchi @polina @Tequila_Sunset @Shocker @Arthilas
Aaron, Butch, Siobhan, Retro, Ludwig and Roy knew it was going to be a dark day when they heard news of Brimstone Brave’s passing, but darker still was the day of the funeral in Final Peak Cemetery in the town of Shatterden nestled in the Shattered Peaks. You all came searching for different things - closure, an opportunity for contracts, money you were owed - but little did you know that Brimstone had bequeathed his earthly belongings to whoever found out how and why he died. Well, others were ahead of you in the how (the Hobgoblin was already imprisoned), but no one really made any progress with the why, which is probably the only reason Arieth Moonglade even told you about this possibility for lots of gold.
Your inspired conversation about Brimstone’s life, death and debts appealed to the ghost of Sir Agar Rhees, who shared what he knew about the Hobgoblin Army marching for Highspear Castle, the Bastion of the Ancient Order of the Sunset Knights eradicated some decades ago by a power-hungry second-in-command. All he asked in return was for you to also investigate the noble Diamondback Wyverns, who, after Sunset Knights’ defeat retreated to their ancestral lair which just happens to be close by. Oh, and that you take his shield from his corpse and then close up the grave, which seemed like an easier request than it turned out to be.
As you set out into the Shattered Peaks, the winds were howling, life was plentifully present and while you saw many enemies in the far distance, the first part of your journey was peaceful. Luckily, in the dead of night Roy heard some twigs snapping in the bushes and Butch’s loyal rat friends were able to report that there were 3 Hobgoblins. Eager to fight, you barely waited for the entire party to be awake before rushing in and killing them - remembering to keep one alive for questioning. Having found out that someone called Lord Farazar was conducting evil experiemnts on the Diamondback Wyverns in the hope of getting control of the magical well at Highspear, you nobly consented to a temporary employment contract naming you (temporary) Sunset Knights. Lord Farazar’s devilish companion were no match for you expert damage, hexes, and hiding, and for a while there, it seemed like you were about to defeat him right there. That is, until he teleported and you could hear his cackling laugh riding his Chimera from outside.
The ensuing opportunity for rest was very welcome and offered you an opportunity to bond with the Wyverns. While you weren’t able to restore them to full health from their close-to-death state, the potion you made was strong enough to let them carry you. The Wyvern chooses the adventurer, and so Angelo chose Aaron, Warmog chose Butch, Jason chose Siobhan, Futuro chose Retro, Archibald chose Ludwig and Arandune chose Roy. Due to their lack of speech, perhaps we will never know what the wyverns think about the loving names you chose for them, but powerful names these were. You flew up to Highspear castles, you defeated the Hobgoblin Army - well, those brave enough to fight you on Diamonback Wyvern’s back - and you fed Hadar’s Hunger on multiple occasions. You should have known Lord Farazar was not quite done, yet, and his appearance with his chimera was temporarily worrying - especially when Ludwig plummeted to his death, but luckily was caught just in time by Archibald; and when Aaron seemed to go down but somewhere within him found the strength to get up again. And just as the situation seemed very dire, in deed, Retro, in a fit of rage about never being hit, hacked down on Farazar and watched him crumble and die. The remaining Hobgoblins fled the scene and you emerged victorious.
Sir Agar Rhees took you on a journey of the castle, offering up some of its unique ancient items:
- For Roy, a ring of spell storing
- For Ludwig, an all-purpose tool (rare).
- For Aaron, he turns his regular axe into a woodcutter’s axe using the magical well.
- For Butch, he uses the magical well to turn his crossbow into dragon wing crossbow.
- For Siobhan, and to help with her rituals about brimstone brave, a cape of the mountebank.
- And Retro, he asks that you take his +1 shield with you. His crest of the diamondback wyvern is still on it, but he promises not to stop by too much now that this is over.
As you return to Shatterden and tell your tale, Aright Moonglade agrees that you have found the “why” as to the Hobgoblin presence that killed Brimstone, and he divvies up all the gold from his vault, which comes out to 400 GP each.
And so, this particular adventure ends; yet the tale of the last flight of the (temporarily contracted) sunset knights lives on - perhaps there will be songs and tales written about it. Until then, you may choose your experience to gain a level and 10 downtime days, if you so wish.
In case you couldn’t tell, I loved playing this adventure with you, and I hope you did too. I love learning with my table and trying new stuff and am grateful I got to do that. Hope to see you again
