Epic Deaths (T4)
Smod,
a hill dwarf barbarian, zaelot of Moradin, chosen of Bhaal, friend of the yugoloths. He walked heroically through a gigantic sphere of annihilation to save the day … and the world.
His epic deeds will never be forgotten.
Aurash,
wielder of Blackrazor, a woodelf who was raised by Orcs, and did not hesitate to follow the path of Yurtrus, the god of death and disease, for a second, used her power of death to return Urabrask the Hidden to the living.
Elesh Norn rebuke this effort and managed to compleate this champion … but not before Aurash finished her true resurrection spell guided by Yutrus guidance.
These epic divine intervention provided the group with an incredible powerful ally who turned the tide of the last battle in your favour. This truly divine deed will not be forgotten.
Rivira,
an astralelf moon druidess, born of the worldtree Yggdrassil itself, stood steadfast as a champion against compleation. Since the Phyrexians tried to destroy the least-compleated first, she was the focus of many Phyrexian aggressions. This though did not cause her to give up on her believes.
In the end though, an earlier feint by the archfiend of hunger, who she trusted a bit too much, since she was introduced to it by, her comrade Smod (see above^^), caused her doom, when she was felled by one of her former allies, Aurash (see above^^) compleated, who slew her with Blackrazor.
Her body and soul however could not be assimilated by the Phyrexians, because the archfiend Trelmarixian the Black, lord of famine, called in the fiendish doom to consume her and turn her into a yugoloth fiend to serve in the first layer of Gehenna.
Maybe she once will become a powerful Baernaloth, who will haunt new adventures in the next V.A.L.U.E. Season …
Nerwin,
highpriest of Bhaal, was the mastermind behind sending Urabrask the Hidden against Elesh Norn. Although his compleation levels were high, he did not waiver and was loyal to his dark faith. This high compleation though allowed him to understand the Phyrexian language, which proved to be vital to navigate the labyrinthine pathways to reach New Phyrexia’s Seedcore.
He rained divine fire down on his Phyrexian foes, before calling on Bhaal’s power to turn into a Slayer to face Elesh Norn herself, dealing multiple severe wounds to her. A transformation he knew would cost his life … but was Nerwin was about death.
@BDave @Avallona @Saphira @Stracci @Jackfruitchilli @Vishous
Thank you for playing. Hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.
The Epilogues for the Guests:
Smod @Mexikorn
Smod’s bravery became so well known, as the dwarf who walked into a sphere of annihilation willingly, knowing what it could do. Many warriors aspired to match him, but hardly anyone could. Moradin has begun to think about sending him back, perhaps he will be needed again.
Baroun @katnyx
Through diligence and working together, the curse befalling Baroun’s father was eventually broken. His father would travel to Djerad Kethendi and eventually settle there to be closer to his ashes.
Agatha and H.I.M. @PatrickD
Despite being of two houses and dying in the battle, the legacy of their love went on to change the world. Many countries of Eberron and even some houses passed legislation to allow members of different houses to be in a relationship. The path is rocky and difficult but change is happening.
Glurr @PatrickD
In the hour of Ravnica’s need, a single goblin manager came back from the dead to take responsibility. He united many members of the guilds into a force to be reckoned with and for some reason multiple racing carts were also involved in beating back the Phyrexians. The Selesnya Conclave honored their member by naming a newly planted tree after him.
Ley’en @Mexikorn
Ley’En was never a messiah or chosen one, she just wanted to help, and even after her death the message was carried out into the world. People helping people, trying to change the world bit by bit. In the end her name faded but deeds remained.
Ms. Butterbiskuits @Darthbinks
The lady died surrounded by her many children and grandchildren leaving behind a cookbook and many recipes on how to bake good cookies. The recipes would be collected and become a vital part of many a halfling and other kitchens. Mothers would remind their children that if they don’t eat up, Ms. Butterbiskuits will be very disappointed.
Krk @Stracci
What became of Krk is not known, especially after his death in the desert. But many travelers and traders tell of a legend, perhaps just a common delusion of a kobold druid who guides them in their our of need. Until they reached safety he would guide, and never run away.
Player Epilogues:
Liandrin @Stracci
After wandering the battlefield and recruiting many new members to her new “enterprise” Liandrin traveled the worlds. World-spanning cities, Dominaria, and many more things were waiting for her. If she ever settled down, nobody knows, however a powerful new criminal enterprise sprung up filling the gap of the dead Xanathar and many more.
Ghundralt @Jackfruitchilli
The professor returned from his sabbatical to find the university half in ruins, thankfully his chair was still intact. He devoted himself back to research again, making fire and explosions around him. One day another stray explosion happened the Dean wanted to expel him, however something must have happened, and the damage was rebuilt and surprisingly lots of new funding came in. Ghundralt kept his post.
Nym @Vishous
The cleric would found a small monastery in the countryside, allowing people to have the joys of choice, art and community. Over time the community grew and those who left would spread these teachings into the world. They became less a religion and more a philosophy that would influence many who were rebuilding the cities and states into allowing more personal freedom.
Dukrir @BDave
He would return to the dwarves and continue his work. Because of everything, including saving Moradin, he was very respected in his community and many young hopefuls wanted to apprentice under him and his pockets for research and material were always full. In between he decided to take a year for an exchange into hell, after all that is were many of his customers were. After his return he came back to his workshop intact.
Niyeth @Saphira
Many dragons were slain or compleated during the invasion, and the small hatchlings needed guidance. Niyeth stepped up to care for them in her nursery giving the gifts of compassion and kindness to those who needed it. For all her deeds, Bahamut made her an ancient Gold Dragon. Her actions would echo hundreds of years later in those she raised.
Feyryl @Avallona
After the mysterious disappearance of her superior, Feyryl became the ruler of the city of Luskan where she ruled with an iron fist. She was in control of everything from the boats to the crime, and under her steady hand Luskan rebuilt into the northern harbour it always wanted to be, crime and all. Additionally, under her rule discrimination was punished hard and over the years Luskan became a hard but multicultural place.
If you want to add to your epilogues, feel free.
Otherwise, hope you had a great experience. Thank you all for the fun.
Nike will return to kalandros with the knowledge that she could have done more to protect smod and aurash. She also did not manage to keep Rivira alive but in all her heart she knows that she did everything she could.
Nike is a faithful polytheistic paladin of selune and bahamut (and sometimes helm when it’s convenient). She will stay the at the temple with kalandros with the intention to start a family. Her days of active adventuring are coming to an end, but if a call is sent she might respond.
One beef she is still studying is with him who shall not be named. Where did that Jack o’ lantern go? Does he still have vecnas (roll a d6 of psychic damage) eye? The hand is kept secure in a locker deep down in the catacombs.
Xala on the other hand is only starting his adventure. Most recently he finally resurrected his mother and true polymorphed himself into an adult blue dragon (if you followed the etheria storyline it’s ancient) and his mother into a young blue dragon.
As dragons tend to do they are starting a lair. If you think blue dragon you would expect a dessert lair with lots of storms, but no, this lair is just outside the desert sounding Oasis in a patch of grassland with a small river. It is often covered with clouds, but only enough to water the newly planted potatoes.
Xala has fulfilled his wish (from the dragonlance campaign dream wizard classification test) to live a happy childhood with his mother, but nobody (not even me) expected the mother to be the child dragon. But the “happy” part is now his responsibility.
Xala did not stop his wizarding though. Friendly people will happily get a lecture in ritual spells and enchantment magic, maybe even the power of f(r)iendship.
I’m so happy with xalas ending (as a PC) pretty much everything got a conclusion.
Thanks to all of you playing with me, especially the dragonlance/etheria campaigns(@jboimler @Xyathn @Martin @Vishous @katnyx and others that I don’t know the handles of) that started xalas hatred for science (which includes phyrexia), the red hand of doom(@BufoBufo ) that ended with a wedding, the happy fun murder dungeon (@Darthbinks ) rewards that shaped xalas love for potatoes and a surprisingly large amount of their decisions through the power of friendship, the lost minds of phandelver (@Rayce_Kaiser ) and finally the start of Nikes adventures in a small town with Ted, the necromantic guy with the hat that saved an asthmatic turtles soul.(By a queer person that I also don’t know the handle of)
As Nike returns, she finds a frozen landscape, littered with corpses of various monsters corrupted by glistening oil. But in the middle, its towers like icicles, the temple of Bahamut still stands.
Inside, the survivors from the surrounding lands have gathered around the temple servants and a wounded and exhausted Kalandros with one wing hanging down limp. But they have made it! Kalandros gets up and hugs Nike, happy she made it back. “The Lord of the North Wind kept a watchful eye on you, I knew it.”
Kalandros’s days of adventuring are over as well, at least for now - times are changing. His injuries need time to heal, and he is looking forward to becoming a father - that means new responsibilities. Also, with the temple’s community growing, he needs to spend time training new clerics and paladins.
There are many questions left unaswered, the most obvious one probably is where Jack O’ Lantern went with a certain necromancer’s left seeing organ. But one important question is about to get its answer: Will Nike’s and Kalandros’s children beear some of their father’s draconic might or will the elven ancestry prevail? And one thing is sure: These children have the best requisites to once become great heroes of their own
